Honda Civic Si 2009 In Depth Review

The Civic always sold well, but with gas hovering around $ 4 a gallon across the country, small cars have gone to the top of the charts selling. Indeed, they sell so well that the Civic actually found more buyers than perennial bestseller in America, the Ford F-150 pickup, in the summer of 2008.

Honda Civic sells them in various forms. The series analyzed in coupe and sedan Civic, the Civic Si sedan and coupe, the Civic GX sedan, and the Civic Hybrid sedan. (Click here for information on the hybrid Civic.)

The coupe and sedan Civic is powered by a-140 hp, 1.8-liter inline four-cylinder engine combined with standard five-speed manual gearbox with the option of a five-speed automatic. The coupe and sedan Si are rev-happy 197-hp, 2.0-liter inline four-cylinder engine coupled with six-speed manual gearbox and a sport tuned suspension and limited slip differential. The Civic Si sport coupe and sedan get standard fog lamps.

Elsewhere in the lineup Civic, the interior improvements come in the form of new fabrics and Bluetooth connectivity for Civics are equipped with excellent navigation system for Honda.

Transfer engines

As before, the Civic will be offered with a wide range of engines carried over unchanged from '08, including a-140 hp, 1.8-liter four-cylinder gasoline engine, gas-powered version of the same (Civic GX), the hybrid combines battery power with a tiny 1.3-liter and a zesty, 197-hp Civic Si. Our favorite is the Civic Si, of course, but we recognize that hybrid and GX models will become more popular if gas prices remain high.

The Civic is now the third most popular car in the country behind the Toyota Camry and Toyota Corolla.

All Civics return good gas mileage. The Civic GX returns an EPA-rated 24/36 mpg.

Verdict

This latest Civic, introduced in 2005 as a 2006 model is a nice piece, although we do not think quite as good as previous versions. The last time a political party took one of our comparative tests, finished third behind a VW Rabbit and Mazda 3.

All Civics get a freshened exterior with new taillights and head and a new grille and front bumper design. A new model sedan LX-S has 16-inch alloy wheels, sport seats, leather-wrapped steering wheel, a chrome exhaust tip, and a decklid spoiler

The Civic range essentially has four trim levels: DX, LX, EX and EX-L, listed in ascending order of luxury.

A base Civic costs about 16 grand, which is a stripper. For those looking for fun, buy a coupe or sedan Si for a reasonable $ 22,000.

Security

The Civic is fairly well equipped with standard safety features including front, front side and curtain airbags on all models with four-wheel anti-lock brakes.

Despite looking like a three-door - you can thank the hidden rear door handles for that - the Civic Si will be the first five-door Civic hatch available in Australia since the early 1980s. Like the Jazz will be reviewed early this year, the Civic hatch features Magic seats. In the United Kingdom, the user manages 6.6L/100km on formal testing, while the outside Ekes auto 7.1L/100km

Honda Civic Si has increased the overall width of 65 mm to 1765 mm, and front and rear tracks to 1504 mm (up to 34 mm) and 1510 mm (up to 45 mm), respectively, to create a more dynamic silhouette and a better car handling. The 2009 Honda Civic Si hatch powered by a SOHC 1,8-liter i-VTEC produces 103 kW at 91RON fuel is married with a standard six-speed manual gearbox or optional five-speed automatic gearbox
